Name of Organization Premiere Performances of Hong Kong
Mission Premiere Performances brings the best classical musicians in the world to Hong Kong for concerts and outreach, building a vibrant local arts scene and inspiring audiences with live music performances that are accessible to all.
Objectives Premiere Performances is sparking a musical movement. We want to inspire those who play to pick up their instruments and play with joy and love, and those who listen to have a concert experience like no other. We want to enliven the imagination and on occasion challenge Hong Kong audiences through extraordinary performances.
Core Services Premiere Performances organizes classical music concerts, focusing on chamber music and solo recitals. Premiere Performances presents over 100 concerts each year, the vast majority of which are free to the public and have a music educational purpose. We also present three public ticketed concert series throughout the year. The first of these is the Recital Series where we bring artists of the highest international quality to Hong Kong for concerts. Premiere Performances also presents the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival every January and the Family Series, especially designed for kids aged 5-11. We also have an extensive outreach & education program called Chamber Music in Schools where we bring specially trained ensembles into local schools for performances, workshops and teacher training.
Achievements / Pioneer Projects Premiere Performances was founded to fill an existing gap in Hong Kong’s classical music landscape. We organise primarily recitals and chamber music concerts at a price which is accessible to all. Since 2007, Premiere Performances has presented the Hong Kong debuts of now very established names like pianist Yuja Wang, guitar superstar Milos Karadaglic and violinist Nicola Benedetti. Premiere Performances also launched the annual Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival, delivering a world class international Festival to Hong Kong audiences and is pioneering the Family Series with original concerts for kids aged 5-11.
